Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced that its aircraft fleet has reached 700 city-pair speed records, following a recent flight by the Gulfstream G700 from Taipei to Miami. This milestone coincides with the 50th anniversary of the company’s first speed record, achieved in 1975 by the Gulfstream GII on a flight from St. John’s, Antigua, to Dakar, Senegal.

The April 1 G700 flight covered 7,740 nautical miles (14,334 kilometers) in 14 hours and 38 minutes, maintaining an average cruise speed of Mach 0.87. The G700, one of the company’s latest business jets, incorporates several technical features contributing to its performance. These include Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, proprietary aerodynamic design, and a high-speed winglet. Additional systems include the Predictive Landing Performance System and a dual head-up display equipped with the Combined Vision System, which merges Enhanced and Synthetic Vision technologies to improve pilot situational awareness and operational flexibility.

Since entering service, the G700 has achieved more than 80 city-pair speed records in under a year. This pace surpasses that of the G650 and G650ER, which have collectively contributed over 130 speed records to the Gulfstream fleet. The G650ER currently holds the record for the longest non-stop flight in business aviation, covering 8,379 nautical miles (15,518 kilometers) from Singapore to Tucson, Arizona, in 15 hours and 23 minutes. The G650 also holds the record for the fastest westbound circumnavigation by a non-supersonic aircraft, flying 20,310 nautical miles (37,614 kilometers) in 41 hours and 7 minutes with scheduled stops in Guam, Dubai, and Cape Verde.

Gulfstream’s milestone reflects five decades of participation in speed record achievements monitored by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association.
