Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation has completed the expansion of its aircraft completions operations at the St. Louis Downtown Airport. A ceremony was held to mark the opening of the newly added space. The expansion, which was first announced in 2023, enables full aircraft interior outfitting to be conducted at the St. Louis site.
According to the company, the facility is intended to support the production of Gulfstream aircraft, particularly its newer models. The investment in the expansion exceeded $30 million. It builds on Gulfstream’s existing presence in St. Louis, which includes a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility that opened in 2017.
The expanded site now includes a total footprint of 645,013 square feet, or approximately 59,993 square meters. Gulfstream currently employs more than 675 people at the location. As part of the expansion, 200 new positions were created. The company stated that it is continuing to hire for roles in avionics, interior installation, and cabinet work.
Gulfstream has also initiated workforce development partnerships with local schools. One such program involves high school students from Cahokia Heights and The Center for Academic and Vocational Excellence in Belleville. These students can participate in a work-study program that may lead to full-time employment after graduation.
In addition to the St. Louis project, Gulfstream has recently invested in other facilities, including new service centers in Mesa, Arizona, and Fort Worth, Texas, as well as a paint hangar in Appleton, Wisconsin, and an expanded service center in Savannah, Georgia.
