Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., a subsidiary of General Dynamics, has announced that its Gulfstream G800 business aircraft has received type certification from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The aircraft was certified with performance specifications that surpass earlier projections.

The G800’s certified range is 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometers) at a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85, an increase of 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) over initial estimates. The aircraft can also travel 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) at Mach 0.90, or 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 kilometers) at Mach 0.87. Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.935, up from the previously stated Mach 0.925.

The aircraft’s takeoff and landing performance also exceeded original projections. It was certified with a balanced field length takeoff distance of 5,812 feet (1,771 meters) and a landing distance of 3,105 feet (946 meters) under standard conditions at sea level. These performance metrics allow the aircraft to access a wider range of airports.

The G800 is equipped with Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and features an aerodynamic wing and winglet design developed by Gulfstream. According to the company, these features contribute to the aircraft’s extended range and fuel efficiency.

The cabin of the G800 includes a cabin altitude of 2,840 feet (866 meters) at a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters), 100% fresh air circulation, a plasma ionization air purification system, and 16 panoramic oval windows. The interior can be configured with up to four living areas or three living areas with a dedicated crew compartment.

Gulfstream indicated that the G800 is ready for entry into service, with customer deliveries in the United States and Europe scheduled to begin.

Gulfstream Aerospace is part of General Dynamics, a global company involved in business aviation, shipbuilding, land combat systems, munitions, and information technology. General Dynamics reported $47.7 billion in revenue for 2024 and employs over 100,000 people globally.
